21 Plus Sport Sessions
21 Plus are running a series of sports sessions for primary aged children with Down’s syndrome. The aim is for them to try a variety of sports, and provide information about clubs/groups that they can join thereafter.
This series of sessions has been somewhat impacted by COVID 19 but will resume again very soon.
Valleys Gymnastics, Crumlin
21 plus organised a sports session at Valleys Gymnastics in Crumlin in October 2021. The session was open to siblings and was a fantastic opportunity for our children to explore the facility. The staff and volunteers at Valleys Gymnastics were fantastic, supporting the children to explore and gain confidence in trying out different equipment and apparatus at the centre. The trampoline and foam pit were a huge hit, all the children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and will definitely be coming back.
Valley Gymnastics offers SEN sessions every Sunday 2.30-3.30pm. Please check their website for up to date information.
Newport Live ‘Wheels For All‘
In November a family bike session took place at Tredegar Park, through Wheels For All. This was an opportunity for children and their families to try out various adapted bikes. We rode a circular route through Tredegar park. Trained staff were there to help get on and off bikes and support in any way they could .The bikes were great fun, everyone had a fabulous time despite some heavy rain showers!
If you are interested please visit Newport Live Wheels For All. Adapted bikes can be hired every Wednesday and Saturday 10-3pm at Tredegar Park for a small fee. Please note that the programme closes for winter so please check their website for further details.
