Meet the team running 21 Plus.
Gabi has been a part of 21 Plus since her son Joseph was only a few months old. They have been attending the Talk Time groups for many years now and knowing the impact that the group had on her family she became involved in organising fund-raisers, then joined the committee and is now a very passionate lead for the group.
Roberta became involved with 21 Plus through Talk Time when her son, Leo was just a baby. Again, experiencing first-hand the impact that this support gives she wanted to be involved and help the group grow to reach as many families as possible.
Nikki has been involved with 21 Plus since it’s very early days and her daughter, Katie, was one of the first children to attend Talk Time. Nikki runs groups for children close to her home in mid-Wales and still finds time to be an active member of the committee and support the running of summer camps.
Bridgid is the newest member to the committee following the arrival of baby Elsie. Bridgid’s knowledge of voluntary work in South Wales has been invaluable and she is passionate about the support that being part of a group gives to new families.
Victoria started 21 Plus in 2005 and has been instrumental in developing the services now offered. Her son, Dylan, has Down’s Syndrome. She has been running the Talk Time groups since completing her Symbol Co-Worker training in 2010. Following further training with Symbol she has been running the TalkAbout youth group since 2019. Victoria also delivers the School Support Service and leads the summer camps.
Nicky joined the 21 Plus team in its very early days; she has been at the centre of all decisions and has a leading role in the success of the group. Her son, Dylan, has Down’s Syndrome. Nicky completed her Symbol Co-Worker training in 2010 and has been running the Talk Time groups since then. She also runs the TalkAbout group following training with Symbol in 2019 and leads the summer camps. Nicky also delivers the School Support Service.
Rebecca’s daughter, Emilia, was one of the first children to attend Talk Time and Rebecca has remained an active member of the group ever since.
Katharina started 21 Plus in 2005 and was at the centre of the group’s success. A lack of local support when her daughter, Amelie, was young was at the heart of her decision to begin a support group. She was enormously proud of the way 21 Plus had grown, the support it offered and the many people who had become part of the 21 Plus family.
Katharina sadly passed away in 2022.
